Logo Placement Guide
Find out which placements work best for your logos, artwork, and text-based designs.
1. LEFT CHEST
The go-to spot for almost every custom shirt! Whether you’re outfitting team members, event crews, or brand ambassadors, the left chest is a timeless standard.
Sized at 3" to 4" wide and placed about 3" down from the collar, the placement scales with the shirt size so it looks proportional on every fit.
Design tip: Small spaces demand simple art! Steer clear of fine lines or heavy detail that might blur together—stick to clean logos and bold text for the best outcome.
2. CENTRE CHEST
The Center Chest print gives you high visibility without taking over the whole shirt—and it won't get hidden if someone throws on an unbuttoned shirt or jacket over top!
It falls right between a compact left-chest design and a large full-front graphic.
Which location should you choose?
Take a look at the garment sizes in your order:
- Smaller/Youth sizes: Go with Center Chest so the artwork doesn't overpower the shirt.
- Larger/3XL+ sizes: Go with a Full Front to ensure the design scales nicely across the broader area.
3. FULL FRONT
A full-front design certainly gets noticed, but bigger isn't always better! With screen printing, covering a huge area in heavy ink can trap heat and make the shirt feel stiff and uncomfortable (creating what many call a "sweat patch").
Think of your print like room coverage:
- Wide & Short Designs: Go ahead and print wide!
- Tall & Square Designs: Scale it back slightly to keep the shirt flexible and breathable.
4. OVERSIZED FRONT
An oversize print refers to any design that exceeds the dimensions of a standard full-front print. Our maximum print size is 16 inches wide by 20 inches high. The placement for these prints usually begins higher than a standard front print, approximately 2 to 3 inches down from the collar.
Please note that your garment size may limit the print dimensions. For instance, we cannot print 14 inches wide on youth sizes, smaller ladies' sizes, or styles like tank tops and v-necks. In such cases, you would need to set up two different print sizes.
5. NECK YOKE
Located just 1" below the back collar, the neck yoke is a subtle yet high-visibility spot—sitting right at eye level for anyone standing behind you!
Because space is limited, designs here average 2" to 3" wide (though we've successfully printed artwork as small as 1 inch). Keep your design simple and uncluttered for the cleanest finish.
Bonus: This small footprint is perfect for racerback tanks, and the exact same artwork setup can be reused on sleeves or a left-chest print!
6. UPPER BACK
Want your message to be seen from across the room? The upper back is where you'll usually see bold callouts like "STAFF" or trending event hashtags.
Sized at 12" to 13" wide and placed about 3.5" to 4" down from the back collar, it's engineered for crowd readability. If you're just printing text, no need to worry—we'll place it right where it looks best!
Placement Tip: Some ask for this text across the bottom hem instead. It’s a fun, unique look for promotional tees, but keep in mind it gets hidden more easily than an upper back print.
7. FULL BACK
Typically, the standard print size of 12 inches wide by 14 inches high is more than sufficient, but we can go up to 14.5 inches wide by 16.5 inches high if needed—provided the garments aren't too small.
This print location is rarely used on its own and is usually paired with a print on the front, sleeves, or both.
When you want an extra-large print, the full back should be your go-to choice. It allows for a larger image, making it a better billboard than the front.
It's also the ideal spot for your most colorful and intricate designs. Reserve the simpler, single-color prints for the left chest and sleeves.
8. SLEEVE
Like the left chest, this print location is best suited for simpler designs. As with other areas, the size and placement should be tailored to your specific logo or artwork.
The sleeve typically looks best with a smaller print size. The standard width is around 3 inches, but we can go up to 4.5 inches wide (though this is only recommended for very wide logos) or as small as 1 inch wide.
The standard placement is about an inch from the hem, but we've seen some great designs printed larger and positioned closer to the shoulder. Use your judgment for this location, and don't hesitate to consult one of our project specialists for guidance.
